Fire Spread in Multi-Storey Timber Building, a CFD Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the fire performance in a multi-storey cross-laminated timber (CLT) structure by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technique using Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS v.6.7). study investigates temperature, heat release rate (HRR), and gas concentration (O2, CO2). importance research ensure that buildings adequate for occupant safety property protection. Moreover, proposed provides measures advance engineers when designing with sufficient protection predicting time flashover behaviour. present numerical modelling designed represent 10-storey CLT residential building where each floor has an apartment 9.14 m length width dimensions. pyrolysis model was performed thermal kinetic parameters furniture, wood cribs were allowed burn themselves simulation. This based on full-scale experiment two-storey building. results validated comparing them experimental data. Numerical simulation models show very close accuracy benchmark paper. CFD tools such as FDS can be used scenarios buildings.

Improving Multi-storey Building Sensor Network with an External Hub

Monitoring and automatic control of building environment is a crucial application of Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) in which maximizing network lifetime is a key challenge. Previous research into the performance of a network in a building environment has been concerned with radio propagation within a single floor. We investigate the link quality distribution to obtain full coverage of signal str...

Passive vibration suppression using inerters for a multi-storey building structure

This paper investigates the use of inerters for vibration suppression of a multistorey building structure. The inerter was proposed as a two-terminal replacement for the mass element, with the property that the applied force is proportional to the relative acceleration across its terminals. It completes the force-current mechanical-electrical network analogy, providing the mechanical equivalent...

A Multi-Scenario Zero-Energy Building Techno-Economic Case Study Analysis for a Renovation of a Residential Building

According to the previous pieces of research, the building sector consumes about 40 % of total yield energy and produce one-third of GHG pollution emission. This point shows the significant potential in two aspects of energy optimization and pollution reduction in this field. The purpose of this research as a case study is to construct a residential building and develop the paths for reaching a...

The Fire Performance of Exposed Timber Panels

Cross-laminated timber is increasingly being used in the construction of high-rise buildings due to its simple manufacturing system. In term of fire resistance, cross-laminated timber panels are promoted as having excellent fire resistance, comparable to that of non-combustible materials and to heavy timber construction, due to the ability of thick wood assemblies to char slowly at a predictabl...

Timber! Issues in Treebank Building and Use

We discuss several treebank conceptions in the literature and show that their requirements may be incompatible, describing then the options taken in the construction of a Portuguese treebank, in what concerns human vs. automatic intervention. Use cases are then listed in connection with a Web search tool (Águia), whose philosophy and implementation is presented.
